Job Description
Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island provides individualized treatment for children, adolescents and young adults with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. We serve individuals throughout the New England area and beyond, and work collaboratively with state agencies and social service providers to ensure an integrated network of care. Our service offerings include residential treatment; campus- and community-based group homes; adult group homes and placement services;
a special education day school; autism services; short‑term placement; diagnostic services; in-home services; vocational training; and therapeutic foster care. Based in Fitchburg, MA, our CARES School is a therapeutic day school that serves individuals age 6 through 21 who carry diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Intellectual Disability.
- Under the supervision of the Education Director, assure the successful implementation of MA Curriculum Frameworks and instructional strategies for a diverse student population.
- Serve as Individual Education Plan (IEP) coordinator and ensure DESE regulation compliance.
- Develop and refine a broad continuum of educational and vocational programs.
- Provide supervision, support and direction to teachers and aides to assure effective differentiated instruction, curriculum‑based assessments and data collection to monitor student progress.
- Implement school‑wide Positive Behavior Intervention Support programs.
- Provide training and support to teachers related to their effective supervision of instructional support staff.
- 40+ days off per year following the school recess calendar, plus 8 sick days per year

- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license required
- Master’s degree required
- DESE licensed as Principal or Administrator of Special Education required
- Minimum three years’ experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting required
- Must be able to attend a 2‑week paid orientation, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in Rutland, MA
