Special Education Teacher - High School

Job Summary

Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a driven, dynamic, and experienced special education teacher to be part of the high school instructional team. This educator is responsible for creating a classroom environment that supports all students and brings a passion for supporting and implementing best instructional practices, wraparound student support services, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative environment.

Candidates must have a deep passion for the Sizer School mission and be ready to teach in and be part of an exemplary, innovative public middle/high school.

• Provides specialized instruction for high school students.
• Provides inclusion support within content‑area classrooms.
• Develops and writes Individualized Education Plans in collaboration with the IEP team.
• Manages a caseload of students with Individualized Education Plans.
• Chairs IEP meetings (annual reviews) for students on caseload.
• Maintains compliance with IDEA regulations.
• Works collaboratively with Grade Level Teams to plan for instruction.
• Completes required assessments for initial and 3‑year re‑evaluations.

• Dedication to the Sizer School mission.
• Knowledge of best practices in special education instruction and assessment.
• Knowledge of curriculum design and Massachusetts Frameworks.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Highly qualified to teach in the assignment area. MA DESE License with SEI Endorsement preferred; mandatory within the first year of employment.
• Experience working with a diverse population of students.
• Innovative team player with abundant energy and proven history of service.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to pass CORI and National Criminal Background check.
