Part Time Evening Faculty - Chemistry; Pool

Job Overview

Membership to the Fitchburg State University part-time adjunct faculty pool is open to qualified and competent experts external to the Fitchburg State University faculty, who possess skills, education, and experience in academic and/or professional areas.

All part-time faculty are responsible for providing students with a high quality learning environment, while utilizing their focused expertise and experience in their individual classroom, laboratories and studios.

Department of Biology and Chemistry offers the following majors and concentrations:

• Biology major
• Biotechnology concentration
• Environmental Biology concentration
• Health Sciences concentration
• Neuroscience and Behavior concentration
• Biology Initial Teacher Licensure concentration
• Chemistry major
• Chemistry Initial Teacher Licensure concentration

Minors:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Neuroscience, Behavior, and Cognition

• Teach undergraduate chemistry courses for majors and/or non-majors.
• Provide a high quality learning environment in classroom, laboratory, and studio settings.
• Participate in faculty pool review processes and respond to course scheduling needs.
• Maintain eligibility for the adjunct faculty pool for up to three years following selection.

• A minimum Master’s degree;
  Ph.D. preferred.

• Attach a letter of interest and resume when applying.
• Specify preference for teaching in the day, evening, or both.
• Designate the preferred teaching time when responding to the pool announcement.
• Complete a CORI and Student Clearinghouse Authorization form prior to hire.
• Provide official transcripts of all degrees held if the University cannot qualify them through the National Student Clearinghouse.
• Submit three letters of recommendation if selected to teach.

Applications will be maintained from July 1st through June 30th for each academic year. At the conclusion of the academic year the pool will be refreshed and applicants may be required to reapply. Selected applicants stay active for a three‑year period.
