Undergraduate Student Employment-TRIO SSS Student Support Squad Leader

The Office of TRIO SSSis seeking a student for employment. This position is funded by the university. All undergraduate students looking for employment are welcome to apply.

Please see below the specific duties and responsibilities for the position.

TRIO SSS Squad members assist new students' transition into life as a student at Fitchburg State University. Squad members are assigned tasks, workshops, outreach opportunities, and events by the Squad Leader. Though the work hours of TRIO SSS Squad members are busy, it is a rewarding position and Squad Leaders will leave with much to add to their resumes. Squad Members will be expected to:

• Plan and implement programs and activities
• Support first-year mentees through one-on-one interactions
• Answer mentee questions about life at Fitchburg State
• Connect mentees to campus resources
• Connect mentees to other TRIO SSS students by planning group activities and events
• Support the TRIO staff in executing TRIO initiatives and activities
• Be a representative for TRIO at events including Future Falcon Days, Tours, Open Houses and Info Sessions
• Assist in creating content for TRIO social media and marketing projects

Position Responsibilities and Requirements

• Attend all Squad trainings as required
• Participate in weekly staff meetings, one-on-one or as a whole team
• Cover office until 5pm on some nights (as class schedule permits)
• Assist mentees in becoming familiar with campus resources
• Assist in maintaining TRIO SSS social media to keep mentees informed of upcoming events
• Update professional staff of any student concerns
• Hold regularly scheduled office and study hall hours
• Work as a team to plan and host social and academic programs
• Supervise and lead one or more workshops
• Assume other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by TRIO SSS professional staff

• Full time student at Fitchburg State University
• Part of TRIO SSS for at least 2 Academic Semesters
• In good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Able to work a maximum of 8.5 hours/week (dependent on virtual and in-person allowance), office coverage until 5pm on some nights
• Willing to send and receive text message

Shift Information: This is a student only posting.

Shift will vary based on student schedules and the pay is $15 per hour.
