Vytek Laser Systems is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of industrial laser and automation systems
. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Fitchburg, MA.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems and assemblies used in complex capital equipment. You will work closely with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to bring new products and enhancements from concept through production.
Responsibilities- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for industrial laser machinery
- Develop detailed Solid Works 3D models and 2D drawings
- Perform mechanical analysis, validation, and performance testing
- Support prototype builds and transition designs into manufacturing
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and production teams
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during build, test, and deployment
- Ensure designs meet engineering standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5–7+ years of mechanical design experience
- Strong proficiency in Solid Works CAD
- Experience with industrial machinery, automation equipment, or capital equipment
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and mechanical assemblies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work hands-on in a production-oriented engineering environment
- Experience with laser systems, CNC machinery, or automated equipment
- Familiarity with GD&T and engineering documentation standards
- Exposure to optics or electromechanical systems is a plus
