Job Description

The Banking Associate is a professional in banking, accountable for accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing advice and educational support on services, products, and tools to help customers achieve their financial goals.

Depth & Scope (Responsibilities)
  • Perform a wide range of tasks across multiple areas within a store location, including processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on banking products and services.
  • Deliver end‑to‑end advice customers expect: building trust with educational content, providing consultative support, and advocating with proactive insights and recommendations.
  • Use TD's systems and tools to engage with customers, acquire and deepen relationships, and provide advice and guidance to attract and retain customers.
  • Understand customer financial needs, identify opportunities to promote products, services, and refer to appropriate team members or internal bank partners, while ensuring a positive experience.
  • Accurately complete everyday banking transactions on the teller line or platform, uncovering customer financial needs and educating on products, services, tools or referring to experts.
  • Provide service on both teller line and platform, including opening/closing personal deposit accounts, everyday transactions, debit/credit card issues, regulation E, mobile and online banking.
  • Connect with customers, provide financial advice, and deepen relationships through lead management activities, creating and managing self‑generated leads, managing partner or campaign leads, outbound calls or SMS, hosting appointments, and lead prioritization.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of customer experience in any capacity (volunteering, education, military preferred).
  • Demonstrated customer service skills preferred.
  • Ability to work during operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Teller experience preferred.
  • Required to complete teller training and part 1 of platform training upon hire.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgment in decision making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Notary license preferred.
Customer Accountabilities
  • Consistently provide legendary customer service while transacting, promoting, educating, and referring TD products.
  • Establish and nurture relationships by displaying product knowledge and actively listening to customer needs.
  • Manage wait times to meet with a banker by scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling appointments.
  • Lead lobby operations and represent the first point of contact for inquiries and resolve issues or schedule expert appointments.
  • Support the bank's customer service strategy.
  • Consider the impact of decisions on TD, its customers, and stakeholders.
  • Drive referrals to store colleagues and partners.
  • Ensure tasks are performed within established policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required job‑specific, compliance‑related training.
  • Follow compliance/risk controls.
  • Maintain records of action plans for audit and regulatory requests.
  • Comply with TD Code of Conduct.
Shareholder Accountabilities
  • Complete operational activities in compliance with company guidelines and regulations (Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act).
  • Accurately process cash/deposit/withdrawal transactions and other account servicing requests.
  • Handle everyday transactions such as opening/closing accounts, servicing, depositing or cashed checks, reordering debit cards, or updating addresses.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies, adhering to required controls, critical dates, and accurate documentation.
