Position Summary

Reporting to the Mortgage Servicing Manager, the Mortgage Servicer I is responsible for servicing the Credit Union's mortgage, home equity, and commercial loan portfolios while ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering outstanding service to our members. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established processes, and a commitment to creating positive member experiences.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver exceptional service to members, attorneys, vendors, and internal team members through professional and responsive communication.
  • Set up new mortgage and home equity loans within the core processing system with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Manage escrow functions, including tracking, payment, and cancellation of property tax, insurance, and private mortgage insurance accounts.
  • Serve as a resource for members and Credit Union departments by answering questions and resolving mortgage servicing inquiries.
  • Monitor and update adjustable loan rates, prime rate changes, and applicable secondary market rates.
  • Process and reconcile mortgage-related invoices, including appraisals, credit reports, attorney fees, inspections, and title services.
  • Reconcile mortgage servicing accounts, general ledger accounts, and related checking accounts.
  • Prepare and process mortgage payoff requests, payoff transactions, and mortgage discharges.
  • Conduct quality control reviews to ensure loan servicing accuracy and compliance.
  • Follow established procedures and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Contribute to process improvements and support departmental goals and initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Credit union, banking, mortgage servicing, lending, or financial services experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing, member-facing, or service-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with loan documentation, payment processing, escrow administration, or mortgage servicing functions is a plus.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Required Compliance Training

The successful candidate must satisfactorily complete all required regulatory and compliance training and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

  • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
  • Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
  • Information Security and Privacy Training
  • Any additional regulations applicable to the position
