Job Description:The Capital Planning and Maintenance Department is seeking students for employment. This position is funded by the university. All undergraduate students looking for employment are welcome to apply. Please see below the specific duties and responsibilities for the position.
- Be familiar with Event Management Systems (EMS) to check reservation setups.
- Follow floor plans and diagrams to set up and take down tables, chairs, staging, podiums, and trash/recycling bins for campus events and meetings.
- Reset rooms to standard layouts following functions and check event spaces beforehand to ensure cleanliness and proper configuration.
- Assist CPM custodial and grounds staff with routine trash/recycling removal and litter sweeps in high-traffic zones.
- Help transport light furniture, event equipment, and signage across campus buildings as needed.
- Report maintenance issues, broken equipment, or safety concerns noticed during daily tasks and walkthroughs.
- Support seasonal CPM needs (e.g., Commencement, Move-In) and perform other operational duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled as a Fitchburg State student in good academic standing.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs (tables, chairs, equipment) and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a good driving record to operate university carts and CPM vehicles.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or with a team.
- Ability to follow written diagrams, floor plans, and verbal directions.
This is a part-time, non-benefited student only position and the hourly rate is $15.00.
Shift Information: Flexible schedule based on class availability, event programming, and CPM operational needs. Occasional hours may be offered Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, most hours take place during early mornings, evenings, and weekends as dictated by the event calendar.
