Position: Voter Services Temporary Support Staff (0726)

Under supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in assigned field; performs related work as assigned.
Note: This position is in the Voter Registration division of the Recorder's Office. This position requires flexibility as election schedules and workloads will vary. This is a temporary full-time position that is 40 hours per week or more. During peak election periods there will be mandatory overtime on evenings, weekends, and holidays. (Illustrative Only)

  • Use of computer systems, Microsoft Suite, and other office machines
  • Receives, sorts, files and retrieves forms, correspondence and documents

  • Updates, checks and completes records, forms and documents

  • Verifies discrepancies and makes corrections

  • Processes documents to update and maintain files and records

  • Processes and distributes confidential and sensitive documents

  • Operates and maintains a variety of office equipment

  • Performs data entry

  • Answers incoming phone calls

  • Provides in-person early voting and registration services to the public

Essential functions of this position include but not limited to: sitting; working with and around others; dealing with interruptions, repetitive motion (hand/wrist/ elbow/ shoulder) for computer work, filing telephones etc.;
Vision Acuity (Near) computer work; hearing for communicating with others with phone calls, meetings; speech for telephone and ordinary conversation/ communication; touch for typing, filing, writing and phones.

One year experience in clerical work; OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must be a registered voter in Coconino County. Must have a valid AZ Driver's license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to complete a background check.

Preferred qualifications

Experience working an election in an administrative capacity (not just being a poll worker on Election Day); customer service and data entry/clerical experience and demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate should be detail oriented and able to maintain accuracy in a repetitive work environment; a team player with excellent customer service, and data entry skills. The ideal candidate should be familiar with federal and state of Arizona election laws.

Considerable knowledge of:
  • Filing methods
  • Business English and spelling
  • Office practices and procedures
  • Word processing, spreadsheets, other computer applications and modern office equipment
  • Rules and procedures of assigned department, including state and federal law
Ability to:
  • Compose correspondence dealing with technical and complex matters
  • Exercise sound independent judgment on a variety of problems in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
  • Prioritize, plan and carry out assignments
  • Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
