Summary:

Part‑time faculty will be responsible for teaching assigned Chemistry courses for the Fall 2026 semester. The opportunity is for in‑person teaching assignments at the Lone Tree Campus. Teaching may include alternative delivery methods (hybrid, online, Zoom), day, evening or weekend classes, and may be at multiple sites. Faculty must work collegially in a team environment. This is a temporary, non‑benefits‑eligible position.

Employment is determined on a course‑to‑course, semester‑to‑semester basis.

Special note for applicants residing outside of Arizona:
If you are selected and do not move to Arizona, your employment will be through Kelly Educational Services. Hiring pay: $1,160 per load hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses, adhering to course outlines and student learning objectives.
  • Prepare and implement syllabi in accordance with college procedures and course outlines.
  • Keep and submit all instructional records according to the College calendar, including reporting grades and attendance.
  • Notify Deans and Lead faculty in case of absence from class; work to find a substitute whenever possible.
  • Follow all college policies and procedures, including the Letter of Intent (semester contract).
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Utilize Canvas to meet the minimum threshold as indicated in college procedures.
  • Check the CCC email and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Attend required college meetings, including New Faculty Orientation and the beginning‑of‑semester faculty meeting.
  • Participate in student assessment and relevant program assessment as directed by the Dean or Vice President.
  • Remain current in practices, trends, and research related to the discipline area; actively engage in course and program assessment.
  • Maintain the same accepted standards of conduct as full‑time faculty as described in administrative procedures related to satisfactory service and conduct for faculty membership.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to teach assigned courses effectively; knowledge of the subject area, computer and related technology, including Canvas; professionalism and confidentiality; support and promotion of the college mission, values, purposes, and strategic plan; competence in culturally diverse team environments; integration of subject matter with related curricula; knowledge of applicable federal and state laws such as FERPA.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree (or higher) in Chemistry; OR
  • Master’s Degree and 18 graduate‑level (500‑level or higher) credits in the discipline area being taught.

  • Enthusiasm for teaching and learning, and willingness to share excitement with the CCC community.
  • Commitment to student success.
  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with diverse students and colleagues.
  • Experience using learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).

Part‑time employees working 20 hours or more per week for at least 20 weeks within the fiscal year (July 1–June 30) are eligible to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System and receive tuition waiver benefits.
