Job Summary:
May serve as the project lead technician, as needed under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer (RE) or Project Supervisor. Monitoring contract compliance in regard to ADOT standard specifications, standard drawings, and project specific plans and special provisions. Assists project supervisor in the review of construction submittals, material certs, and documentation. Provides direction, coaching, & mentoring to lower level inspectors.
Assist the Project Supervisor in scheduling, monitoring , and mentoring inspection staff. Receives, reviews, and disseminates all material test results, including but not limited to asphalt, concrete, aggregate, and earthwork. Assists with road block/traffic control, plowing (voluntary), or working dispatch as needed to assist the inclement or winter weather. This position requires driving a State vehicle.
Inspects minor contract items to ensure compliance with standards and specifications. Acts as another lead inspector for personnel assignment to projects providing direction and guidance. Use a State vehicle in the course of job duties.
Prepares filed documentation and verifies field calculations for input into the FAST system. Inspects and approves traffic control and project safety items in compliance with standard specifications and policies.
Performs complex analysis and calculations as required, including laboratory tests, quantities and other contract related documentation. Reviews work performed by other personnel assigned to the area of assignment.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Methods, procedures, and techniques used in highway construction project inspection, survey, materials testing & documentation.
-Work management, analyzing and evaluation of a wide variety of technical engineering dates Federal, State statutes and agency standards, policies, and procedures applicable to the area of assignment. - Advanced mathematics.
- Operate and maintain assigned equipment, in a safe manner.
- Operating engineering related equipment.

- Interpersonal relations, as applied to contacts with contractors, representatives and other Governmental agencies and other agency employees.
- Google suite.

Experience in operating survey equipment, inspecting minor highway construction projects, hot mix and concrete plants, performing administrative or advanced engineering and construction records maintenance or related duties; or a Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology or closely related profession may be substituted for the required experience. ATTI & ACI certifications.
