Systems Administrator
Nature of Work
This is an onsite manager position, responsible for administering the enterprise environment and supervising the day‑to‑day activities of the Datacenter/Operations and Network Administrator staff. The role performs administrative, supervisory, and complex technical work in the IT Department including system administration, database configuration, networking, voice/data communications, and support. It supervises operational personnel and performs related work as assigned.
Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprint and background clearance must be completed within 90 days of employment and maintained throughout employment.
Salary range: $89,145 to $112,145 annually.
Typical Duties- Recruit, manage, mentor, evaluate and write performance reviews
- Communicate regularly with CIO/Deputy CIO about projects, risks, concerns, problems, and needs
- Provide project updates to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery of enterprise projects/initiatives
- Analyze and resolve server/application/database performance, capacity, replication, and other distributed data issues
- Hold weekly meetings with assigned staff to track progress and project milestones
- Work closely with Division Leads to negotiate contracts and forecast expenditures
- Evaluate and develop procedures to improve departmental operations; direct preparation of documentation
- Meet with internal/external customers regularly to understand operational needs
- Participate in budgeting, short‑ and long‑range planning, and development of department objectives
- Regularly use VMware, Big Fix, Power Shell, Splunk, Solar Winds, WSUS, 0365, Cyber Ark, Netwrix, Nessus and other relevant administration tools
- Manage staff to update and track tasks and high‑priority projects within relevant project software
- Participate in the operational change control process, capacity plans and Coconino County business continuity plans
Walking; working with and around other staff and County employees; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand‑wrist) for keyboarding; vision acuity (near) for monitoring PC screen data; color vision necessary for working with color‑coded cables; hearing and speech (ordinary conversation) for communicating with staff and customers; touch (finger dexterity) for keyboarding. Environmental hazards include electrical hazards associated with working with computers, servers and circuits, and potential for falls from ladders.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, management information systems or closely related field and four years of progressively responsible work experience in Systems Administration, Database Administration and/or Networking, including Voice and Data Telecommunications; at least two of the four years in a supervisory role.
- Associate degree in the same field and five years of progressively responsible work experience in Systems Administration, Database Administration and/or Networking, including Voice and Data Telecommunications; at least two of the years in a supervisory role.
- Six years of progressively responsible work experience in Systems Administration, Database Administration and/or Networking, including Voice and Data Telecommunications; at least two of the years in a supervisory role.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Considerable knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, DHCP, DNS, LDAP
- Network infrastructure and design including cabling, LAN, WAN, security and wireless
- Strong understanding of cyber‑security policies and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of VMware ESXi infrastructure and networking
- Strong working knowledge of NAS/SAN design and implementation including on‑prem, cloud and hybrid solutions
- Advanced administration of Office 365/Exchange including Power Shell scripting, transport rules and Data Loss Prevention
- VOIP and Cisco Call Manager support, design, implementation and administration
- MDM platforms
