Assistant Client Manager – Employee Benefits

We’re seeking an Employee Benefits Assistant Client Manager who will make a meaningful impact by delivering proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high-touch experience for both clients and employees.

The Assistant Client Manager will communicate with employer groups, insurance carriers, and other vendors regarding benefit set up, claim payment issues, eligibility questions, and billing. Working with the Client Manager, you will act as a liaison between carriers and vendors to coordinate and implement changes, renewals, and new business. You may assist in preparing on‑site enrollment meetings, developing proposal details, and preparing Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, or Employee Benefit materials.

Your support will also be requested for audits such as eligibility and carrier records.

Responsibilities
  • Receive or initiate communication to employer groups, insurance carriers, and other vendors regarding claim payment issues, eligibility/termination provisions, billing, contract inquiries, and plan conformance.
  • Act as liaison between carriers and vendors to coordinate and implement changes, renewals, and new group business, including group and consultant relationships.
  • Assist in preparing for and conducting on‑site enrollment meetings as requested.
  • Support the Client Manager with onboarding new groups, renewing existing groups, and preparing reports as needed.
  • Maintain and update pertinent information in internal systems and the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system in a timely manner.
  • Assist with audits (eligibility, carrier records, etc.) when requested.
  • Travel locally to client meetings and events as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • One to three years of group medical insurance experience involving plan administration or an equivalent combination of education and insurance experience.
  • One year of experience in an employee benefits consulting or broker office.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, group medical insurance terminology, and regulatory requirements and restrictions.
  • Experience with both self‑funded and fully insured large and small group plans.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, and write routine reports and correspondence with assistance from senior team members.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proficient PC and data‑entry skills with experience in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; basic mathematical aptitude.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
