Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Regional Director, Clinic & ASC Operations provides leadership, managerial supervision, and resource support across clinic and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) operations in the North region. This role oversees the Clinic Supervisor team and ASC leadership (OR Manager, Sterile Processing, and Pre/Post Recovery) to improve the effectiveness, quality, and financial performance of all clinic and surgical services within the region. The Regional Director develops patient care programs, establishes policy and procedure, participates in cross-department decision making, conducts performance improvement activities, and represents regional operations at Governing Board and Medical Executive Committee meetings.

Basic management functions include planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling department processes across both settings, with a focus on improving outcomes in Financial, Growth, People, Service, and Quality metrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Regional Leadership & Culture

  • In partnership with Clinic and ASC leadership, coach and lead all staff to instill the organization's mission, vision, and core values through education, demonstration, huddles, and results.
  • Creates an environment that inspires collaboration and integration across clinic and ASC departments.
  • Personally influences regional results through a visible presence in assigned service areas, engaging with processes, monitoring performance, and building relationships; responds to service concerns in person.

Clinic Operations

  • Manages overall clinic performance within the North region, including capacity, MIPS and Promoting Interoperability measures, encounter times, and patient volumes.
  • In coordination with Clinic Supervisors, assesses staffing needs and staffing ratios to ensure clinics run efficiently while providing exemplary patient care.
  • Addresses daily provider concerns regarding workflow, staffing, and patient needs; assists in managing provider templates.
  • Interviews, onboards, and creates training for new Clinic Supervisors.

ASC & Perioperative Operations

  • Proactively manages key ASC operational systems including quality, service design, process design, layout, people, and work systems; establishes and monitors continuous quality improvement performance standards.
  • Partners with surgeons and anesthesia providers to establish a safe environment for patients and smooth surgical workflow.
  • Manages perioperative and support department efficiency in line with AORN, SPD, and ASPAN standards.

Human Resources & Team Development

  • Facilitates the development of Clinic Supervisors and ASC leaders through effective selection, onboarding, performance evaluation, coaching, and real-time feedback; holds regular 1:1s.
  • Leads ongoing quality monitoring of staff competencies and assists in training and education across clinic and ASC teams.
  • Writes and reviews job descriptions on an ongoing basis for direct reports.

Quality, Compliance & Patient Experience

  • In coordination with Quality, creates, implements, and enforces written policies and procedures for patient care processes across all clinic and ASC settings.
  • Maintains ongoing compliance with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards applicable to clinic and ASC operations (e.g., The Joint Commission, State of Arizona, AORN, SPD, ASPAN).
  • Investigates and resolves patient or customer concerns and complaints; personally manages internal follow-up.
  • Demonstrates outcomes as measured through established metrics and patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Manages direct expenses across clinic and ASC areas according to budgeted levels; manages the revenue cycle within area of influence.
  • Prepares budgets for areas of responsibility and prioritizes capital needs based on regional goals and technology required for patient care.
