Overview
The UA Wildcat Corps VISTA project aims to empower low‑income communities in Arizona by addressing critical poverty‑related challenges through community‑driven solutions. Our approach is designed to address local needs to ensure long‑term sustainability, and ultimately help lift individuals out of poverty. The VISTA member will work with the Family, Consumer, and Health Science Agent for Coconino County to identify topics based on the needs of our county, i.e., food safety, food security, cooking and nutrition, health and wellness, stress management, financial literacy and more.

Member Duties- Develop training materials and curricula for staff to use when preparing volunteers.
- In conjunction with UACE personnel, develop volunteer training curriculum that includes health and wellness topics such as financial literacy, cooking and nutrition, food security, food safety, positive mental health and wellbeing, stress management, and mindfulness.
- Design a volunteer recruitment, coordination, and reporting system for staff to implement.
- Develop outreach templates, communications tools, and partnership‑mapping resources for staff use.
- Research potential community partners and create materials to support staff‑led relationship‑building.
- Develop a marketing plan and material templates with special attention taken to ensure the local community is reflected within the volunteers serving at UACE.
- Develop a program evaluation protocol.
