Description:

Schedule:

Full Time or PRN available.
Administer medication and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within the scope of license.
Medications may be in various forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository.
Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, and catheter care.
Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments.
Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available.
Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding the resident's medical, social, functional, and other needs.
Participate in receiving and giving shift reports.
Communicate with residents, family, and staff as necessary to ensure residents receive appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team.
Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on newly admitted residents.
Assist with the development of the Minimum Data Set assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans.
Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, observations, treatment, and summary of resident progress.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Knowledge of gerontological and geriatric nursing theory and practice is required.
Understand the effects of the aging process on health.
Familiarity with practices and procedures of team nursing is essential.
Be knowledgeable in implementing treatment plans for resident/patient care.
As well as pharmacology and medication management.
Understand federal, state, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing practical nursing practices.
Skills in observing and reporting behavior and progress of residents/patients are essential.
Ability to apply and interpret state and agency laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices.
Experience in assisting in the development and implementation of patient care plans within a team nursing concept is important.
Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills are essential to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
Ability to abide by nursing regulations and respond to medical emergencies.
Evaluate, analyze, make independent decisions, and follow up regarding client health problems.
Respond to medical issues and inquiries in a professional manner.
