Description:
Administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician and within the scope of license. Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in receiving and giving shift reports. Communicate with residents, families, and staff as necessary to ensure residents receive appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team. Perform initial admission nursing assessments on newly admitted residents.
Assist with the development of the Minimum Data Set assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnoses, assessments, treatment, and summaries of client progress. Lead and supervise subordinate staff and assist with direct resident care for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, and mobility. Conduct and participate in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff.
Utilize concepts and tools for problem-solving and continuous work/process improvements and efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned related to the position. Possess knowledge of gerontological nursing theory and practices. Understand the effects of the aging process on medical/physical/psychological care needs. Apply practices and procedures of team nursing and developing treatment plans for resident/patient care. Be familiar with federal, state, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing professional nursing practices.
Observe and assess the behavior and progress of patients. Develop and carry out patient care plans within a team nursing concept. Build interpersonal relationships and communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Learn, implement, and monitor methods for continuous improvement and efficiency.
