Coconino County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to fill three (3) positions.
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of semi‑skilled manual labor tasks in support of special event facility rentals including, but not limited to: occasional support for trades workers; works with and around the public; participates in stable operations including enforces stable policies, receives payments for stable rent, delivers shavings to stalls, supervises and cleans stalls; performs a variety of semi‑skilled manual labor duties under limited supervision;
maintenance of public buildings, grounds and equipment, including litter pick‑up and restroom cleaning; performs grounds maintenance, operates a variety of hand and power tools; loading and unloading trucks and supplies; and other duties as assigned.
This is a temporary part‑time position with an end date of December 31, 2026.

- Performs manual labor
- Cleans and maintains County facilities and parks
- Identifies and reports needed repairs
- Performs grounds maintenance, including weeding, mowing, landscaping, graffiti removal, painting, and trash removal
- May perform minor repairs
- May assist with special events
Essential functions include but not limited to sitting, standing, in close vicinity people and livestock, walking and bending; twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy loads up to 60 lbs.; working with and around event producers, supervisors, and other crew members; interruptions; repetitive motion (elbow/shoulder); vision acuity (near/far); hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity/touch. Environmental factors may include and not limited to work outside;
noise exposure; use of mechanical devices; exposure to odors and dust.
Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5‑year motor vehicle report.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a background check.
This position is non‑exempt from overtime.
Considerable knowledge of:
- Basic park and facility maintenance and custodial practices
- Operation of power and manual tools
- Operation of light landscaping and maintenance equipment, including weed trimmers and backpack blowers
- Operations of custodial equipment
Working knowledge of:
- Tools, materials, methods, and practices used in park and facility custodial and maintenance work, including but not limited to weeding, trash removal, graffiti removal, painting, restroom cleaning, and minor repairs
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions for storing and handling hazardous materials
Ability to:
- Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Work extended hours out of doors in varying weather conditions
- Perform heavy manual labor
- Effectively handle lifting objects weighing up to 60 pounds
- Operate various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
