Snowplow Operator

Coconino County Public Works (CCPW) is looking for Snowplow Operators!!! The Public Works Road Maintenance Division is responsible for road maintenance, including snow removal, on County-maintained roads throughout Coconino County. Roadways which must be maintained include regular County system roadways, primitive roadways and numerous other classes of roads maintained through cooperative intergovernmental agreements, including road maintenance services for some roadways in the Navajo Nation.

Positions are available in Flagstaff, Williams, and Blue Ridge Arizona. There are approximately 20 Temporary On-Call positions available. Positions are non-exempt from overtime. Under limited supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the operation of various mechanical equipment; performs related work as assigned.

• Operates various mechanical equipment
• Performs inspection and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, buildings, and facilities
• Participates in construction/maintenance projects Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to driving; sitting; working with and around others; vision (near & far) to perform daily tasks; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch (finger dexterity) working with equipment. Environmental conditions include but not limited to working in an outdoor environment high majority of time which includes exposure to cold, heat, moisture, and humidity;

exposure to vehicle noise and vibration.

Two years of experience operating equipment appropriate to position under field conditions OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have an Arizona CDL Class A or

B.

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years road of construction experience and two years of snowplow experience. This position is non-exempt from overtime. This position is safety sensitive.

Knowledge of:

• Laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to equipment operation
• Occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Procedures and practices used in construction and maintenance operations
• Inspection and preventive maintenance practices applying to mechanical equipment

Skill in:

• Operation of assigned equipment under field conditions
• Use of hand and power tools

Ability to:

• Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
• Work extended hours in a variety of weather conditions
• Recognize hazardous conditions and react appropriately
• Prepare and maintain records and reports
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
• Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
