Family Support Specialist I / II
Under direct supervision, the Family Support Specialist I is responsible for providing home‑based prevention services focusing on supporting the parent–child relationship, attachment, and family enhancement through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services/activities for families; performs related work as assigned.
Under general supervision, the Family Support Specialist II is responsible for the same services and also mentors new Family Support Specialists; performs related work as assigned.
The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish and English, has experience supporting children and families, understands child growth and development and the importance of parent–child relationships, is resourceful, and can support families in navigating community resources. The candidate is relational, a strong communicator, a multi‑tasker, and team‑oriented.
Pay for this position is dependent on qualifications.
Pay range:
- Family Support Specialist I: $48,680.32 – $51,114.33
- Family Support Specialist II: $52,236.08 – $54,847.88
- Conduct home visits virtually or in‑person and assess family needs, providing case‑management services when necessary while promoting self‑sufficiency.
- Utilize child‑development curricula with each family to promote positive parent‑child relationships.
- Use floor time to support play within the parent‑child relationship.
- Apply appropriate limit setting and boundaries.
- Maintain necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with County and funding source requirements.
- Participate in, and come prepared for, weekly supervision with the Program Supervisor.
- Coordinate with other community services.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled Healthy Families conferences, seminars, in‑service training, and parent events.
- Maintain all Healthy Families quality assurance standards, including home‑visitation rate and others.
- Participate in agency Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform the duties of a Family Support Specialist I.
- Participate in a County, community, or Healthy Families Arizona committee.
- Actively support the Supervisor in onboarding new Family Support Specialists and mentoring them with community resources, curriculum, home visiting, and paperwork.
- Provide administrative support to the Program Supervisor as assigned, including supporting case‑staffing management and chart reviews.
- Observe a Program Supervisor during weekly supervision with staff at least twice a year.
- Observe end‑of‑month completion at least twice a year.
- Stay up‑to‑date on best practices and emerging trends in home‑visiting programs and services.
- May be responsible for the development of additional trainings as required for the population(s) served.
- May be responsible for assigning and reviewing the work of others.
- Other duties as required by the County or the Program Supervisor.
Driving; sitting for computer entry, typing, answering telephones; working with and around other staff, administration, and citizens; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer and phone work; vision acuity (near/far); hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch and finger dexterity for using radios, intercoms, telephones and computers.
Minimum Qualifications Family Support Specialist I- High school diploma and two years of work experience.
- Must provide proof of education (High School diploma or equivalent, or College degree/transcripts).
- Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of current, valid motor‑vehicle insurance. Final job offer contingent upon a satisfactory 5‑year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report.
- Must be eligible to obtain/maintain a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
- Must be certified in CPR/First Aid.
- Final job offer contingent upon a clear pre‑employment drug test.
- This position is non‑exempt from overtime.
