Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer – Intermediate to support manufacturing operations within a high-volume automotive assembly environment. This role is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, labor utilization, production layouts, and operational efficiency while supporting the principles of the Ford Production System (FPS). The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience within Ford manufacturing operations, labor planning systems, and automotive assembly process optimization.
Key Responsibilities Conduct operational studies to optimize workflow, line balancing, material flow, and space utilization within manufacturing and assembly areas. Develop and maintain production layouts for equipment, workstations, and manufacturing processes. Perform cycle time studies, bottleneck analysis, and production optimization initiatives to improve throughput and efficiency. Conduct direct and indirect labor analysis, staffing studies, and ergonomic assessments. Support workforce planning and production volume changes through MODAPTS/APT analysis and updates.
Utilize VPS (Vehicle Production System) and GSPAS (Global Study Process Allocation System) for labor planning, production analysis, and process validation. Collaborate with production management, operations leadership, and UAW representatives regarding staffing, work standards, and process improvements. Develop and implement standardized work methods and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Ford Production System (FPS) principles. Support cost reduction, productivity improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives within manufacturing operations.
Ensure compliance with safety, ergonomic, and manufacturing efficiency standards.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering discipline. Minimum 4 years of Industrial Engineering experience Hands-on experience with: MODAPTS / APT VPS GSPAS Strong understanding of automotive assembly manufacturing operations.
Experience with :
Labor studies Line balancing Production optimization Staffing analysis Manufacturing process improvement Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Experience
Experience with in unionized manufacturing environments. Experience supporting high-volume automotive assembly operations. Work Environment Fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. Significant plant-floor interaction and operational support. Ability to support production-driven priorities and manufacturing schedules.
