About the Role

Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road. The job is located at 27900 Hall Rd, Flat Rock, MI 48134.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Performing preventative maintenance repairs—such as replacing or rotating tires—and completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
  • Partnering with your manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Problem‑solving ability and comfort using tools
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must understand and comply with Penske management guidelines, rules, and regulations
  • Must adhere to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including correct selection and use of tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance essential
  • Position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, regulated by DOT; must maintain a current driver qualification file, including annual motor vehicle records check, DOT physical, Safety Performance History records from prior employers, CDL holders subject to DOT drug screening and FMCSA clearinghouse review
  • Willingness to work required schedule and location, complete Penske employment application, pass background screening, drug screen, physical, and ability to travel within a near geography for training
Physical Requirements
  • Must move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled work
  • Must use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and operate required tools or controls
  • Must work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms
  • Must work safely in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to see and hear to safely navigate the workplace
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); must be able to push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 pounds
