Hourly base pay rate is $24.23 - $36.35/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

Position Summary

The Automotive Mechanic Technician II performs high-quality maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles. This role delivers exceptional customer service while ensuring vehicle safety, reliability, and cost-effective operations. The technician works independently and collaboratively within a team environment to maintain fleet readiness and support business objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, transmission services, and comprehensive vehicle inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and driveline systems.
  • Perform intermediate-to-advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify vehicle deficiencies.
  • Complete repairs based on ASE certification level and skillset, which may include:
    • OBD-II systems
    • Brake systems
    • Tires and alignments
    • Suspension components
    • Electrical systems
    • Engine and drivetrain components
    • Tune-ups
    • Interior and exterior vehicle components
    • State safety inspections
    • Aerial lift equipment

Fleet Equipment Support

  • Maintain and repair fleet-related equipment such as cable trailers, laptop docking stations, generators, and specialized vehicle components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic systems, hybrid systems, onboard computers, and other specialized equipment.
  • Assist with vehicle upfitting and installation of required equipment and accessories.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately document vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain complete vehicle service histories and maintenance records.
  • Follow all company safety standards, environmental regulations, and shop procedures.
  • Properly handle and dispose of fluids and hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations.

Customer Service & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure repairs are completed the first time correctly through thorough inspections and quality workmanship.
  • Coordinate with vendors to procure parts and manage outsourced repairs as needed.
  • Provide roadside assistance when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying and addressing maintenance needs without direct supervision.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED - preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required
  • ASE Certifications required:
    • A4 – Suspension and Steering
    • A5 – Brakes
    • A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems
    • A7 – Heating and Air Conditioning
  • Must maintain ASE certifications and participate in ongoing technical training to stay current with evolving vehicle technologies and fleet requirements.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of vehicle maintenance and repair experience required.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform repairs independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and computerized systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet operational deadlines.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
