Position Purpose
The CDL Driver at SRS ensures safe, timely delivery of building materials to job sites, verifies inventory, follows safety protocols, and maintains high service standards. This role supports operational efficiency and fosters strong customer relationships through professionalism, teamwork, and responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate Class A or B vehicles, including air brakes, within a 200-mile radius; follow DOT regulations; no overnight travel.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and verify inventory accuracy; document deliveries with photos as per company policy.
- Assess job site conditions to prevent hazards, collaborate with customers for material placement, and ensure damage-free deliveries.
- Support yard operations and maintain OSHA safety standards to keep a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
- Coordinate with customers and team members for multi-drop deliveries and fleet management systems.
This position reports to the Assistant Branch Manager or Operations Manager. The driver may supervise or train junior drivers as required.
Travel RequirementsTravel locally and interstate within a 200-mile radius; all deliveries begin and end at the home branch the same day; no overnight stays.
Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsMust be physically capable of long hours of driving, handling materials up to 100 lbs., loading/unloading with forklifts or manually, and working in varied weather and noisy environments. Must read job-related documents in English. The role involves fast‑paced schedules and occasional yard support.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid CDL Class A or B with air brakes endorsement; clean driving record.
- Experience in commercial driving, knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and operate forklifts safely.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Age 18+ (21 for interstate or hazmat).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Pass background checks, drug test, and E‑Verify.
- Hazmat endorsement.
- Vehicle maintenance skills.
- Experience with multi-drop deliveries.
- Familiarity with fleet management systems.
- Multilingual abilities.
- Minimum:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Preferred:
Vocational or industry-specific truck driving training.
1–2 years of relevant commercial driving experience.
Certifications & Licensing- CDL A or CDL B with Air Brakes Endorsement – Required.
- Current DOT Medical Certificate – Required.
- Forklift Certification – Preferred.
- FMCSA Registration – Required.
- Background check, drug test, and verification via FMCSA Clearinghouse – Required.
- Strong safety compliance through inspections and adherence to DOT/OSHA regulations.
- Operational efficiency: accurate inventory handling and timely deliveries.
- Excellent customer service and professional on-site coordination.
- Adaptability, quick problem solving, and detailed record keeping.
- Effective communication in English.
- Physical stamina for handling heavy materials and working in demanding environments.
Base salary: $25.87 – $32.93 per hour. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime, performance-based bonuses, commissions, car allowance, fuel reimbursement, and travel expense reimbursement per company policy.
