The intern is responsible for working across multiple programs to assist the Genesee Intermediate School District in various professional areas. This role provides essential support while allowing the intern to gain experience in education administration, business services, technology, or communications.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Department Administrative Support
- Provides general administrative support: filing, organizing, and composing of electronic correspondence.
- Develops and maintains computerized reports, spreadsheets using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Assists in the coordination of district events, including the preparation of materials, room setup and onsite support during events.
- Maintains inventory, orders, and stocks general office supplies.
- Provides exceptional customer support for internal and external customers.
- Assists in the basic troubleshooting of hardware and software for district staff.
- Provides support for the setup and maintenance of classroom and office technology.
- Assists in the inventory and distribution of district-owned devices.
- Supports the development of computerized reports and digital presentations.
- Helps maintain and update digital content or databases as assigned.
- Assists staff in various accounting procedures and provides business management assistance to local districts as needed.
- May assist with payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and grant monitoring.
- Communications & Development
- Handles customer interactions professionally.
- Creates and develops flyers in accordance with the district's Style and Procedures Guide.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Should be a currently enrolled college student or have a letter of acceptance to a post-secondary institution.
Experience:
No prior professional experience required; however, a desire to learn district operations and a positive attitude are essential.
Skills/Other:
Technical
Skills:
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic proficiency in business math, spelling, and typing.
- Ability to learn and work within integrated computer systems or specialized databases.
- Communication:
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. - Organization:
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and produce accurate work. - Professionalism:
Maintain a poised image and exercise discretion with confidential information. - Reliability:
Punctuality and good attendance are strict requirements. - Judgment:
Ability to follow board policies and exercise good judgment in a professional environment. - Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Special Requirements
- Demonstrated mental and physical stamina to meet essential duties.
- Ability to travel to and from district facilities and vendor locations as needed.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule within the 28-hour weekly limit.
