Job Overview
WSMH/WBSF is looking for a creative, full‑time News Photographer/MMJ!
We are seeking someone who can see beyond the lens and bring back compelling stories. The candidate should have at least one year of experience working with a broadcast news organization. You will cover day‑to‑day general features, in‑depth stories, and investigative assignments. The role includes shooting full high‑definition (HD) footage on media cards and editing on desktops and laptops. Strong editing skills in non‑linear edit systems, excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude are required.
In addition to photography duties, you will also have the flexibility to act as MMJ on occasion, which includes pitching and researching story ideas. A passion for covering local news and storytelling across multiple platforms is essential.
- At least one year of shooting experience and technical knowledge of editing and photo equipment.
- Ability to edit and shoot general assignment stories, live shots, and natural sound packages.
- Team player who can produce good stories under tight deadlines.
- Ability to perform MMJ work at least once a week.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis.
