Interlochen Center for the Arts is looking for a full-time Instructor of Collaborative Piano for the Voice Area. This position is crucial for the artistic growth of vocal students through collaborative coaching and performance leadership. The instructor will work closely with both students and faculty to enhance musical partnerships between vocalists and pianists, focusing on developing essential skills for collaborative performances.
Responsibilities include serving as a pianist for various activities, including opera rehearsals, choir collaborations, and community events. The instructor will also coach students in rehearsal techniques and foster their independence in musical addition to performance duties, the instructor will oversee a structured collaborative piano program, pairing voice students with pianists and setting clear expectations for their collaboration. They will provide training in core collaborative piano skills and develop learning expectations based on each student's abilities.
The role also involves supporting contemporary music initiatives and collaborating with the Music Division leadership to enhance the Voice Area's goals and programs.
