Position Overview:The Flint Cultural Center Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate One-on-One Student Support Specialist to provide individualized support for a student with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with early elementary‑aged students and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one‑on‑one support to a student with special needs, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
- Assist with academic tasks, social interactions, and daily activities.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching methods to meet the student’s needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to create a supportive and effective learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of the student’s progress and communicate regularly with the educational team.
- High school diploma required.
- At least 60 college credits.
- Experience working with early elementary‑aged students.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training or willingness to obtain it.
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills and skilled at de‑escalation of student needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with special needs.
- Hours:
7:45 AM – 4:15 PM on student days. - Compensation: $15.00 per hour, depending on experience level.
