Starting salary is dependent on education, directly related experience and internal equity. After completing the second probationary semester, the potential exists to earn additional compensation by teaching overload and spring/summer sessions. This additional compensation varies based on several factors, including educational level and step. For example, a faculty member with a Master' s degree at Step 0 who teaches 10 hours of overload during the fall and winter semesters would earn an additional $18,000.

Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job:
Faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty consistently assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness (pedagogy). As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession as outlined, for example, by the NEA and the State of Michigan. Where applicable, faculty maintain licensure and certifications.

Specific Teaching Assignment:

Conducts classes in Practical and Associate Degree Nursing theory, laboratory and clinical practice in accordance with program philosophy, objectives and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Faculty are sometimes called upon to perform quasi-supervisory responsibilities, particularly in their role as Coordinators. When interacting with support specialist of the AVT Skill Laboratory and office assistants, will provide direction on tasks and/or request action to be taken within specific time frame.

Minimum Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

1.Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited institution
2. Three years of recent, relevant full-time Labor and Delivery clinical experience in Nursing, preferably in an acute care setting within the past five years.

3. Current Michigan Licensure as a Registered Nurse or eligibility to obtain Michigan RN licensure prior to start date.

4. Evidence of continuing professional development.

5. Demonstrates excellent human relations skills.

6. Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
7. Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

8. Language

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

9. Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

10. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to…
