Job Summary:The Student Success Coach is responsible for working with district and local school district administrators, staff, parents/guardians, and students to facilitate the success of students not enrolled or attending school in K‑12 grade.
Essential Duties:Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, education, law, sociology, or another related field required. Ability to obtain and maintain designation as deputy sheriff through the Genesee County Sheriff’s office. Valid Michigan driver’s license required. Proven ability to maintain safe driving record required. Ability to obtain and maintain surety bonding.
Experience: Two years successful work experience in a field related to education, social work, criminal justice, or human services required. Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan judicial system required. Experience with students grades K‑12 desirable. Knowledge of Genesee County agencies that provide direct services to families desirable.
Skills/Other: Demonstrates excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to plan, organize and facilitate program goals and objectives. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify needs and implement solutions. Discretion with confidential information. Valid Michigan driver’s license and the ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district, the constituent school districts, community agencies, and homes in the assigned geographical area.
Effective presentation skills. Experience using database software. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Knowledge of local, state, and national educational neglect and truancy models desirable. Experience working with low-income families desirable. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Punctuality and good attendance as requirements for the position.
Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina necessary to meet the essential/other duties of the job description. Exercises good judgement and makes decisions in accordance with board policy and established administrative guidelines.
