K-12 Instructional Coach

kearsley Community Schools (KCS) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as a K-12 Instruction Coach. The start date for this position will be the week of August 10, 2026. There will be multiple new staff member orientation dates scheduled in August prior to the first official reporting day.

The Kearsley Board of Education will offer the successful candidate an annual salary per the KEA Master Agreement commensurate with their skills and experience. The successful candidate will also receive a complete and competitive MESSA fringe benefit package.

Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Grants or designee, the K-12 Instruction Coach provides one on one, small group support, and coaching to new educators in designing and implementing high quality, student centered lessons. The K-12 Instruction Coach's primary responsibility is to work with new educators to support best practices in using data and implementing high quality instruction.

The coach must also:

• Assume coaching responsibility using a variety of coaching methods (modeling, co‑teaching, real‑time feedback) and coaching cycles with a results oriented approach
• Implement ongoing professional development experiences to build the educators' capacity for delivering high impact instruction (reflection, evidence, data) in support of the district instructional model
• Support educators in implementing the district curriculum scope and sequence, assessments, and instructional models
• Plan for vertical alignment and connections between teachers at grade levels across district
• Assist in design and implementation of professional development for K‑12 instructional staff and attend meetings to collaborate around teacher professional development needs
• Stay current on evidence‑based coaching practices and high impact instructional models by participating in self‑initiated professional learning, assigned trainings, and professional development for coaching and instruction
• Attend School Leadership, District Continuous Improvement (DCI), and Coach staff meetings
• Attend approved meetings and trainings related to coaching and instruction
• Perform other duties as assigned related to instructional coaching and professional development programming

• Master's Degree from an accredited university and a Michigan Teaching Certificate
• Highly effective classroom educator with experience in teaching, coaching, and leading adults
• Trained in and experience using the Impact Cycle, Student‑Centered Coaching, Cognitive Coaching and/or Adaptive Schools (preferred)
• Excellent ability to relate to students, teachers, and administrators
• Deep level of understanding of standards based teaching and learning and high impact instructional strategies (aligned with the 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning)
• Eagerness to participate in professional development activities as a learner and presenter
• Willingness to work beyond traditional hours and calendar
• Outstanding skills in problem solving, communication, and data driven decision making
• Ability to multitask, maintain effective organization, and follow through with commitments in a timely manner

This position reports to the Director of Curriculum, Assessment & Grants.
