Location: Assigned Elementary Building
Reports To: Building Principal & Director of Special Education
Schedule: All required student attendance days plus required professional development days
Employment Type: Full-Time | 10-Month Position
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
About the RoleOtsego Public Schools is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Elementary Behavior Interventionist / Medical Aide to join our team.
In this role, you'll work closely with teachers, administrators, special education staff, and families to support students with medical and behavioral needs. Successful candidates demonstrate patience, compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to helping every student thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience assisting students with medical needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with school staff
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification
As an Elementary Behavior Interventionist / Medical Aide, you will:
- Support the implementation of student medical plans and Medical 504 Plans in general education, special education, and school settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff as a member of the building student support team.
- Implement behavior and medical intervention strategies that promote student engagement, self-regulation, independence, emotional regulation, and classroom success.
- Assist with minimal medical procedures as required.
- Collect and maintain data related to Individual Behavior Intervention Plans and Medical Plans.
- Participate in problem-solving meetings to develop and revise student support plans.
- Prepare and organize materials needed to implement student medical plans.
- Assist with state and federal compliance documentation.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch, transitions, and other school activities.
- Escort and supervise students throughout the school as needed.
- Administer minor first aid (training provided as necessary).
- Serve as a member of the building's CPI Team (training provided by the district).
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Additional Information- Capturing Kids Hearts training must be completed within the first two years of employment.
- During emergency situations, all staff members may be expected to assist with supervising students and attending to students' physical needs.
- Salary and benefits are provided in accordance with Otsego Public Schools' Non-Union Employee compensation and benefit package.
