Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with special needs by supporting diverse learners in a dynamic educational environment. Multiple contract positions are available for certified Special Education Teachers for the  school year in the Flint area, with opportunities extending around Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit. These openings include self-contained classrooms and resource positions serving students with cognitive and emotional impairments (K-12th grade).

Assignments are onsite, full-time (35 hours per week), and require a strong commitment to supporting urban communities.

Desired Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Special Education, ideally with endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Learning Disabilities (LD), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) with an additional area of special education.
  • Ability to produce official university transcripts prior to assignment.
  • Experience and knowledge of MARSE and IDEA federal regulations regarding special education.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and resources necessary for supporting students and families in urban settings.
  • Comfortable teaching self-contained classrooms with up to 22 students or resource settings.
  • Open to working onsite in an urban district; remote or virtual (VOCO) options are not available.
Core Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized and group instruction for students with cognitive or emotional impairments.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and the broader special education team.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, mentoring, and training.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and consistent classroom environment that helps all students thrive.
