Job Summary
The Science Instructional Paraprofessional supports the successful delivery of science instruction in a classroom where the certified science teacher provides instruction remotely. This position serves as the on-site facilitator responsible for maintaining a productive learning environment, supporting student engagement, assisting with instructional activities, monitoring student progress, and serving as the primary in-room support for students during science classes. The Science Instructional Paraprofessional works collaboratively with the remote science teacher and school administration to ensure students receive a high-quality educational experience that promotes academic achievement, positive behavior, and active participation in science learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Classroom Facilitation and Management
- Supervise students during all science instructional periods.
- Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Monitor student behavior and implement classroom management expectations consistently.
- Ensure students are engaged, on-task, and participating in instructional activities.
- Facilitate transitions, attendance, and classroom procedures.
- Communicate classroom concerns and student needs to the remote science teacher and administration.
- Maintain student roster
- Assist students in understanding teacher directions, assignments, and instructional expectations.
- Provide clarification and reinforcement of concepts previously taught by the remote science teacher.
- Support students individually and in small groups as directed by the teacher.
- Monitor student understanding and communicate areas of concern to the remote teacher.
- Facilitate laboratory activities and hands-on science experiences while maintaining safety protocols.
- Assist with accommodations and modifications for students as outlined in educational plans.
- Grade assignments, quizzes, laboratory reports, and other assessments as directed by the science teacher.
- Maintain accurate records of student work and completion.
- Monitor assignment completion and follow up with students regarding missing work.
- Assist with organizing and distributing instructional materials and assessments.
- Ensure classroom technology is operational and prepared for remote instruction.
- Troubleshoot minor technology issues and seek assistance when needed.
- Maintain regular communication with the remote science teacher regarding attendance, behavior, student progress, and classroom needs.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as assigned.

- Associate degree preferred; minimum qualifications as required by state and federal guidelines for paraprofessional employment.
- Experience working with secondary students preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to support student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Effective classroom supervision and behavior management skills.

- Basic understanding of science concepts and instructional practices.

- Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.

- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to supervise laboratory activities and respond appropriately to student needs.
