The University of Michigan-Flint Department of Education invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track assistant clinical professor position with teaching skills in multiple topics and expertise in secondary education. The anticipated start date is August 20, 2026. The position is a 12-month appointment with responsibility for teaching in multiple modalities (some combination of online, face to face, hyperflex, hybrid, on and off campus, and possible weekends),and service.
This position also includes coordination and oversight of the alternative route Master of Arts in Secondary Education with Certification teacher preparation program, including providing regular professional development, observation of graduates, and consultation with MDE regarding alternative route programs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a thriving academic community dedicated to excellence in teaching and community engagement.
Faculty member responsibilities will include planning and teaching courses in the teacher preparation programs; engaging in service to the department, college, and university; leading and maintaining teacher preparation programs, including communication with stakeholders; and participation accreditation process.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or closely related field.
- Evidence of at least 3-5 years of teaching experiences, or the equivalent, in middle and/or high school settings
- Evidence of mentoring colleagues in school settings
- Expertise in several of the following areas of teacher education: educational assessment, educational technology, educational psychology, English language learners, and/or sociocultural foundations
- Experience with alternative-route teacher certification
- Experience in advocating for and working collaboratively with a variety of individuals and constituencies
- Experience teaching at the university level
- Experience teaching in a variety of formats (e.g., online, hybrid, face-to-face)
- Experience mentoring pre-service teachers
- Experience with accreditation and the ability to develop and write state level reports.
- Experience working with a variety of constituencies, including administrators, teachers and community partners
- Experience supervising students in clinical placements
