Plant EHS Manager
Flint, Michigan - Flint Plant
Responsibilities- Establish, implement, manage, and sustain the EHS Management System.
- Drive EHS performance.
- Analyze and trend data to drive action. Make things happen.
- Ensure execution of EHS policies, providing guidance on program feasibility, and implementing EHS corporate directives and guidelines for Lear locations within responsibility.
- Partner with and influence all departments, mainly Operations, ensuring their needs are supported and coordinated with EHS requirements, guidance, and best practices.
- Perform recurrent EHS reviews (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual) with applicable departments and key operating leaders to ensure strong performance on EHS metrics and develop plant‑specific improvement plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain compliance assurance processes, perform and coordinate audits to ensure compliance with applicable legal and other requirements (customer, investor, corporate), and assist with aggressive abatement of findings and tracking actions to closure.
- Ensure data integrity, accurate and on‑time reporting.
- Ensure thorough incident investigations are conducted for all significant EHS incidents, publish EHS alerts, and coordinate read‑across of relevant incidents at assigned Lear sites.
- Establish, implement, manage, and sustain the EHSMS (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) and guide proactive plans to identify and control risks.
- Establish relationships with regional governmental agencies and interact and negotiate with governmental entities on behalf of Lear.
- Ensure injured worker information is submitted to the Third‑Party Administrator (TPA) in a timely manner, interact with the TPA and medical community to understand claim status, and coordinate a Return to Work program. Create workers' compensation user control reports periodically and maintain the OSHA 300 log.
- Implement and manage Ergonomic, Sustainability and Continuous Improvement programs to enhance the EHS culture.
- Manage the By‑Product Management Program to ensure proper disposition of all by‑products (waste materials).
- Ensure legal and corporate requirement compliance when opening or closing a plant.
- Coordinate budget planning to ensure needed capital and expense funding is included in the business operating plan.
- 4‑Year University Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental, or a related field (desired).
- Ability to interact with EHS across multiple sites and regions.
- Availability to travel to support EHS leaders toward initiative implementation.
- Experience executing activity based on standard work and project plans, meeting deadlines, and communicating challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Experience working independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to work effectively with business leaders.
