Job Description Position SummaryThe Senior Civil Engineer provides technical leadership and civil engineering support for natural gas capital projects, including gas distribution systems, transmission facilities, city gate/regulator stations, compression facilities, and storage operations.
This role is part of the Civil Engineering group and supports capital upgrade and infrastructure improvement projects. The Senior Civil Engineer will work within multidisciplinary project teams consisting of project engineers, project managers, operations personnel, and other stakeholders to successfully deliver projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Civil Engineer will support multiple projects simultaneously with varying levels of involvement and responsibility.
Core responsibilities include:- Defining and scoping civil engineering design and construction requirements necessary for project execution
- Managing and coordinating contracted engineering services required to complete project scopes
- Providing engineering oversight, technical review, and leadership throughout project development
- Supporting Project Managers in procuring and coordinating construction services
- Completing project closeout documentation, including record drawings, test records, and related deliverables
- Communicating project status updates, schedule impacts, cost concerns, quality issues, and scope risks to leadership on a regular basis
This role requires the ability to work safely in heavy industrial environments associated with natural gas facilities. Work conditions may include exposure to loud noise, heat, and oily or dirty environments.
The ideal candidate must be able to:- Climb stairs and fixed ladders to elevated platforms
- Enter and navigate confined or tight spaces through access hatches
- Walk uneven or rough construction terrain safely
Travel to active construction sites is required approximately 3 days per week and may increase to up to 5 days per week depending on project needs.
Typical site visit activities include:- Pre-bid site walkdowns
- Pre-construction reviews
- Construction milestone inspections
- Field support and resolution of construction questions
- Quality inspections
- Routine project site visits
- Red-line and project closeout walkdowns
Required:
- Working knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices
- Site development and grading
- Stormwater management
