Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, Day shift (hours to be determined)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate residents’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based assessments
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that set meaningful, measurable goals
  • Deliver person-centered therapy that improves communication, safety, and quality of life
  • Collaborate with nursing, PT/OT, dietitians, and families to ensure coordinated care
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and complete required MDS/clinical paperwork
  • Provide caregiver and staff training to support carryover of therapy strategies
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute clinical expertise to care planning
Qualifications
  • State of Michigan SLP license (required)
  • ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
  • Experience working in skilled nursing or long-term care settings preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings/immunizations
  • Strong clinical reasoning, excellent documentation skills, and a positive collaborative attitude
  • Reliable transportation and readiness to work on a travel contract assignment
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders (required)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Skilled in dysphagia assessment and management, including safe swallowing strategies
  • Competence with cognitive-communication and language rehabilitation approaches
  • Familiarity with AAC strategies and adaptive communication techniques
  • Experience with SNF documentation practices and MDS-related workflows
  • Comfortable using electronic health records and completing timely, compliant notes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and families
