Job Summary

Forward Labs is hiring a Board-Certified Sleep Technologist to join our overnight sleep lab team in Flint, MI. This role is ideal for an experienced polysomnographic technologist holding RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist),
CRT-SDS (Certified Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Disorders Specialist), or CRT/RRT with RST (Registered Sleep Technologist) credentials. You will independently perform and manage overnight sleep studies, PAP titrations, and related diagnostic procedures with minimal supervision, ensuring accurate data acquisition and an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review patient history, verify physician orders, and confirm insurance/consent documentation prior to testing.
  • Greet and orient patients for in-center and out-of-center (home) sleep testing, explaining procedures clearly and compassionately.
  • Select, calibrate, and troubleshoot polysomnography (PSG) equipment to ensure accurate signal acquisition.
  • Apply EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory, and other sensors in accordance with AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) standards.
  • Independently conduct full-night diagnostic PSG, split-night, CPAP/BiPAP titration, MSLT, MWT, and parasomnia studies.
  • Perform physiological calibrations,  lights out / lights on  protocols, and real-time data quality checks.
  • Recognize and score sleep stages, respiratory events, arousals, and cardiac/movement abnormalities in real time.
  • Initiate and adjust PAP therapy, supplemental oxygen, and other interventions per protocol and physician orders.
  • Respond to patient safety events, medical emergencies, and equipment malfunctions during overnight shifts.
  • Manage portable/home sleep testing (HSAT) equipment setup, patient education, data download, and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver age-specific, culturally competent care across all patient populations (pediatric through geriatric).
Compliance, Quality & Team Support
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and sleep center safety protocols.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Mentor sleep trainees and support staff as needed; may assist in training new technologists.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation to support physician scoring and interpretation.
  • Maintain current CPR/BLS certification and required continuing education for credential renewal.
Required Qualifications
  • Active board certification in one of the following (required):
    • RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist), or
    • CRT-SDS (Certified Respiratory Therapist – Sleep Disorders Specialist), or
    • CRT or RRT with RST (Registered Sleep Technologist) credential
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of AASM scoring criteria, PAP titration protocols, and PSG equipment.
