Position: Senior Programmer / Architect

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, secure, administer, and support college-wide computer application systems.
  • Provide technical direction and design, business application support, systems analysis.
  • Program and mentor other developers.
  • Perform application development, maintenance, security administration, information reporting, and customer analysis.
  • Meet with customers to translate system needs into application development.
  • Work with and maintain multiple databases, ensuring reliable, accurate, and dependable information systems.
  • Support the College’s enterprise resource planning structures and integrate new systems with the core Ellucian Colleague ERP.
Qualifications
  • More than five (5) years of professional experience in C# / .NET focused on web application development.
  • Five or more years of database experience with Microsoft SQL, including development and management of data structures.
  • Proven ability to own end-to-end delivery of software solutions.
  • Experience with professional development and learning new skills, programming languages, and processes.
  • Adaptation to new technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with users at all levels.
  • Experience working independently or without significant direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain highly productive.
  • Ability to design and manage code and systems that adhere to industry standards and are sustainable with limited maintenance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completed Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Business Information Systems with a minimum of 18 hours of advanced programming coursework.
  • One or more years of experience with Ellucian Colleague UI and related products.
  • Awareness of OWASP security standards and familiarity with the OWASP Top 10.
  • Knowledge of database systems like SQL Server and capability to write performant queries and stored procedures.
  • Understanding of RESTful API design principles and ability to create scalable, well‑documented APIs.
  • Proficiency with Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Power Shell, or Node.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, including certificate services, IIS, permissions, and system configuration.
  • Skill in writing unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests for code quality.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and deployment platforms.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, Virtual Box, and Hyper‑V.
  • Ability to set up logging and monitoring tools.
  • Basic networking knowledge for configuring network settings, ports, and firewall rules.
  • Troubleshooting aptitude for software installation issues.
  • Skill in creating documentation for procedures and best practices.
  • Experience with iOS and Android applications and deployment processes.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Canvas, and automation software.

  • Occasional weekend or after‑hours work may be required for maintenance or repairs.
Physical Requirements

The employee must work at a desk for long periods, operate a computer workstation and telephone, and may need to lift and carry items up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule

This is not a remote position. The schedule is 52 weeks, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Variable hours may be required to meet operational needs.
