Role/Team overview

We are seeking an AI Specialist to design, build, and ope rationalise intelligent systems that enhance Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) platforms and automate large-scale infrastructure operations. This role has a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

You will work closely with SRE, platform, and cloud engineering teams within a global technology support organisation to embed AI-driven decision‑making, predictive analytics, and autonomous remediation into infrastructure platforms.

What you’ll do Infrastructure Automation at Scale
  • Design and deploy AI‑powered automation frameworks for incident response and remediation (self‑healing systems).
  • Automate repetitive operational workflows across compute, storage, and networking layers.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code ecosystems.
Data Engineering & Observability
  • Build and maintain pipelines for high‑volume telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces).
  • Ensure data quality, labelling, and feature engineering for ML models.
  • Leverage observability tools to inform AI systems.
Reliability & Governance
  • Define SLIs/SLOs for AI systems embedded in infrastructure workflows.
  • Ensure robustness, explainability, and auditability of AI‑driven decisions.
  • Implement feedback loops to continuously improve model performance.
AI‑Driven SRE Enablement
  • Develop ML/AI models for anomaly detection, incident prediction, and root cause analysis across distributed systems.
  • Implement intelligent alerting systems to reduce noise and improve signal fidelity.
  • Build predictive reliability models (capacity forecasting, failure prediction).
What you’ll bring Essential criteria
  • Strong experience in AI engineering, particularly in operational or systems contexts.
  • Practical experience of SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management).
  • Strong experience of cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python (or similar).
  • Right to work in the UK – Sky does not offer sponsorship for this position.
Desirable skills and experience
  • Familiarity with LLMs for operational tooling (e.g., incident summarisation, runbook automation).
  • Experience building AIOps or autonomous operations platforms.
  • Proven track record in reducing manual operational workload across SRE teams.
  • Proven track record in reducing the Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) through automated remediation.

We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.
