Position Summary

The Healthcare Insurance Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of medical malpractice and healthcare liability insurance programs for healthcare organizations, physician groups, hospitals, healthcare systems, and individual providers. This role serves as the primary client contact for ongoing service needs, policy administration, provider roster management, regulatory compliance, and Patient Compensation Fund (PCF) enrollment activities.

The Account Manager partners closely with clients, brokers, underwriters, program administrators, and insurance carriers to ensure the accurate placement and maintenance of coverage while delivering exceptional client service and strategic program support.

Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned healthcare clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare administrators, risk managers, physician leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding coverage, endorsements, enrollment requirements, and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and participate in renewal strategy discussions.
Policy Administration
  • Manage the issuance, renewal, and maintenance of medical professional liability insurance policies.
  • Review applications, policy documents, endorsements, and binders for accuracy.
  • Coordinate policy issuance and delivery with underwriting and operations teams.
  • Assist clients with coverage changes and policy modifications throughout the policy term.
Provider Roster Management
  • Maintain accurate records of enrolled healthcare providers and entities.
  • Process provider additions, terminations, demographic updates, and coverage changes.
  • Validate licensure information and eligibility requirements.
  • Coordinate provider roster reporting and renewal submissions.
Patient Compensation Fund (PCF) Administration
  • Manage enrollment and renewal activities for applicable state Patient Compensation Funds.
  • Ensure compliance with state filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Calculate and reconcile surcharge payments.
  • Coordinate enrollment submissions with regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting PCF participation.
Certificates and Evidence of Coverage
  • Issue certificates of insurance (COIs), evidence of coverage documents, and related materials.
  • Monitor client requests and ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain certificate compliance and documentation records.
Financial Administration
  • Assist with premium billing inquiries and payment tracking.
  • Coordinate surcharge and regulatory fee payments associated with applicable state funds.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
  • Maintain working knowledge of healthcare liability regulations and state-specific professional liability requirements.
  • Ensure all enrollments, filings, and documentation comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor provider licensure and credentialing requirements impacting coverage eligibility.
  • Support internal audit and compliance review activities.
Qualifications Required
  • Must have an active Property & Casualty Producer license.
  • 3+ years of insurance account management/producer experience.
  • Keen understanding of insurance terminology, policy structures, and underwriting processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
Preferred
  • Experience with healthcare providers, hospitals, health systems, physician groups, or captive insurance programs.
  • Knowledge of Patient Compensation Fund administration and state malpractice compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with agency management systems and policy administration platforms.
