The employer for this position will be Genesee Educational Consultant Services. Starting pay is $15.00/hour, increasing to $16.00/hour after 90 days, and $16.50/hour at one year. Custodian (2nd Shift)

Job Purpose and Focus

To provide staff and students a safe, attractive, clean, and efficient environment for learning and development, ensuring building equipment and grounds are properly maintained. The employee shall devote their entire time to caring for the school property within their assigned area, taking all necessary precautions for property protection. The employee shall serve as an advisor to the Supervisor of Operations on safety, maintenance of district buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Job tasks may vary seasonally.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent personal hygiene
• Excellent attendance record
• Attributes include self-motivation, dependability, a positive attitude, and pride in cleanliness and operation of the assigned building
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation and supplies
• Knowledge of grounds equipment operation and basic maintenance skills
• Clear communication skills in both oral and written forms
• Adherence to district requirements and policies
• Ability to meet deadlines

Essential Functions and Duties

• Use of custodial chemicals for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting
• Perform scheduled cleaning tasks
• Dust mopping floors and dusting rooms
• Clean sinks, urinals, and toilets
• Wash classroom windows and doors
• Replenish soap and paper dispensers
• Clean chalkboards, desks, chairs, walls, and tables
• Wash lockers
• Vacuum areas with various vacuum cleaners, including backpack vacuums
• Perform light housekeeping chores
• Maintain floors, including finishing and machine operation
• Remove trash and empty receptacles
• Change light bulbs
• Assist with summer building cleanup as directed
• Perform other duties as assigned
