Bindery Supervisor

Flint, Michigan

1st Shift

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Bindery Supervisor / Lead Bindery Operator to lead daily operations within the bindery and finishing department. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for machine setup, production efficiency, employee development, quality standards, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

The department consists of approximately 11 core team members
, with additional support brought in during peak production periods. The ideal candidate will combine strong bindery expertise with proven leadership experience and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate day‑to‑day bindery operations on 1st shift.
  • Lead, train, and develop bindery personnel while promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Perform advanced machine setups and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure deadlines and quality standards are achieved.
  • Maintain workflow efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
  • Manage staffing needs and support temporary or floating personnel during high‑volume periods.
  • Communicate effectively with production, scheduling, and management teams.
  • Maintain high standards for product quality and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership, training, or supervisory experience in a bindery or finishing environment preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of commercial printing and bindery operations.
  • Ability to lead by example and work alongside the team when necessary.
  • Experience with machine setup, troubleshooting, and production workflows.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate employees and maintain a positive work culture.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
