For 57 years, Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC) has advocated for governmental arts funding, offered programs and services designed to engage the community in creative processes, supported the work of Michigan artists, developed sustainability in arts agencies throughout Genesee County and bordering communities, aided the development of new programs and new careers in the arts, increased awareness of the vast number of artistic/cultural offerings, enhanced arts education, stimulated local economic growth, showcased to the nation the beauty and livability of the greater Flint community and demonstrated how the arts can be a platform for social justice.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Director of Development at Greater Flint Arts Council, with the primary location in Flint, MI. The Director of Development will oversee the creation and implementation of fundraising initiatives, including planned and annual giving programs. This role involves collaborating with staff and volunteer teams to develop philanthropic strategies, preparing funding budgets, and cultivating donor relationships.

Responsibilities also include organizing fundraising events, increasing membership and securing grants to ensure financial sustainability for the organization.

This is a full time salaried position based on a 40 hour work week, requiring at leastone evening each month and a few weekends annually.

Salary $60,000 + bonus program

Health Ins. – Group plan paid by employer 100%

HRA - $2,000 annual

Short Term and long term disability

Retirement plan annual contribution 5%

Paid vacation, personal days and sick days

Qualifications
  • Expertise in Planned Giving and Annual Giving strategies
  • Proven experience in Fundraising and cultivating philanthropy-driven initiatives
  • Strong skills in Budgeting and financial planning
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors and stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency in donor database management and general fundraising software
  • A bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Relations, or related fields
  • Prior experience in the arts and cultural nonprofit sectors
