Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps (FUSHC) Ameri Corps members assist residents with long‑term recovery from the water crisis. They serve at a variety of nonprofits throughout the community and, through their host sites, provide direct service in key areas of recovery: food security and nutrition; behavioral and developmental health; early education; medical management; blight elimination and community engagement. FUSHC members engage in activities designed to increase access to early childhood health and education services, community engagement, and neighborhood revitalization, and they may be responsible for planning and executing both small and large‑scale events that support and further program goals.
Additionally, FUSHC members meet on a monthly basis for professional development, networking, and training, and collaborative projects between host sites and members are encouraged.
Members serve at a variety of organizations, so day‑to‑day activities vary between host sites. All FUSHC members connect residents to resources and educate the community on topics related to water crisis recovery.
