Position Overview

The Infusion RN provides quality cancer care by assessing and monitoring patients, formulating a nursing diagnosis and prioritizing problems. They engage the patient in mutual goal setting and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.

Desired/Required Qualifications
  • Licensed RN in the State of Michigan.
  • Successful completion of a competency‑based orientation program.
  • Completion of a chemotherapy certificate and ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of employment.
  • ACLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
Specific Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in peripheral IV access, PICC and port management for medical/surgical, emergency, and intensive care settings.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor the overall needs of patients and significant others.
  • Develop and maintain an individualized plan of care with the patient and significant others.
  • Initiate follow‑up care in community and home settings.
  • Administer chemotherapy according to ONS and OSHA guidelines.
  • Provide research‑based nursing care in cooperation with physicians, the research team, and national research standards.
  • Evaluate patient and significant others’ educational needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Document nursing care and teaching consistently with documentation guidelines.
  • Maintain communication with other health team members to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Act as patient/significant others’ advocate.
  • Assume a leadership role and delegate appropriately to support staff to facilitate safe, efficient, and quality patient care.
  • Document patient chargeable services and items used.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in oncology by reading, attending conferences, seminars, etc.
  • May be pulled to work at other CHC sites based on clinic and patient needs.
