Position Summary
A leading senior living organization across Michigan is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead clinical operations and nursing staff at a skilled nursing facility. This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll oversee all clinical aspects of resident care, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of excellence among nursing teams. You'll report directly to the executive leadership team and serve as a key strategic partner in delivering exceptional outcomes for residents while maintaining operational efficiency and staff satisfaction.

- Clinical Leadership & Quality Management: Develop and implement comprehensive clinical protocols, care standards, and evidence-based nursing practices. Oversee quality assurance programs, resident care outcomes, and infection control measures. Conduct regular clinical audits and implement corrective action plans to maintain survey-ready standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations, including CMS requirements, state licensing rules, and Joint Commission standards. Prepare for and coordinate state surveys and inspections. Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation systems. Stay current on changing regulatory requirements and implement necessary operational adjustments.
- Nursing Staff Management: Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain qualified nursing personnel including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Develop staff training programs, continuing education initiatives, and professional development pathways. Conduct performance evaluations, address performance issues, and foster a positive workplace culture. Build succession planning strategies to reduce turnover and strengthen team capabilities.
- Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the nursing department budget. Control labor costs while maintaining appropriate staffing levels and resident-to-staff ratios. Optimize supply chain management and equipment utilization. Present financial reports to executive leadership and recommend cost‑saving initiatives.
- Resident Care Oversight: Evaluate resident assessment processes and individualized care planning. Monitor clinical outcomes, wound care management, medication administration, and specialized nursing services. Address resident and family concerns regarding clinical care. Champion person‑centered care philosophies and resident dignity.
- Interdisciplinary
Collaboration:
Partner with physicians, therapy teams, social services, and administrative staff to coordinate comprehensive resident care. Facilitate team meetings and communication protocols. Advocate for resident needs while balancing organizational sustainability.
- Education & Licensure: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master's degree preferred. Current, unrestricted RN license in Michigan. Minimum five years of nursing experience with at least three years in a leadership or supervisory capacity within a skilled nursing or long‑term care setting. - Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of skilled nursing operations, resident care standards, and clinical best practices. Proven experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data analysis. Understanding of infection prevention, wound care, and specialized nursing protocols.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with state and federal compliance requirements, survey processes, and quality improvement initiatives. Familiarity with CMS regulations and state licensing standards.
