Position Available:
Full Time Assistant Armed Security Supervisor/Officer working for Flint Housing Commission

The selected candidate will perform dual responsibilities, serving as an Assistant Security Supervisor two days per week and working in a standard Security Officer role the other three days.

    Schedule:

    2 varying days a week, 8-hour shifts scheduled between 5:30pm and 8:00am
  • Security Officer

    Schedule:

    3 varying days a week. 8-hour shifts scheduled between 5:30pm and 8:00am

Wage: $19.00 - $23.00/hour

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist Site Supervisor with overseeing, supervising and directing security officers.
  • Makes rounds to check for security coverage in designated work areas at customer's sites.
  • Cover open shifts at customer's sites as needed.
  • Research and resolve problems related to security operational issues.
  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to work.
  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
  • Observes activity and traffic in assigned area to enforce rules/regulations; alerts visitors of infractions.
  • Assists any persons in building or on grounds needing directions or information.
  • Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.
  • Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Responds to alarms and dispatched calls; decides what actions to take based on situation, facts known and position limitations.
  • Decides when incident requires written report; decides which report form to use and submits to supervisor.
  • Unlocks buildings/doors after checking identification and compliance with policies.
  • May assist law enforcement officers with crowd control and surveillance at large public events.
  • Maintain proficiency with assigned firearms and comply with all applicable laws and company policies regarding weapons handling and use of force.
  • Attend and complete all required training, including firearms qualifications and refresher courses.
  • Any other duties assigned.
Position Requirements :
  • One or more years of previous supervisory experience; preferably in a security related field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid and current Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL)
  • Must pass company pistol qualification
  • Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure.
  • Excellent observation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of use-of-force principles and de-escalation techniques.
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, or driving for extended periods and responding rapidly to incidents.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and any required psychological evaluations.
  • Must maintain a clean and professional appearance in uniform.
  • Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
