Facility Maintenance Technician
A Facility Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine and semi-skilled tasks involving general maintenance of MTA facilities, equipment, and grounds. Supervised by the Facilities Supervisor, the principal responsibilities include maintaining all MTA facilities, equipment, and grounds, operating powered tools and equipment, removing snow and ice, using power washing equipment, performing maintenance on grounds and roadways, painting work, basic plumbing repair, troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, performing basic building construction duties, checking and filling facility maintenance vehicles and equipment fluids, performing facility, vehicle, and equipment sanitation functions, using computers and electronic equipment, maintaining good working relations with co-workers and supervisors, and performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum acceptable employment requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Michigan driver's license with a clean driving record, ability to pass a physical and drug screen, ability to pass criminal and reference checks, general knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and construction methods, ability to operate power tools and equipment, ability to troubleshoot and repair facilities systems, ability to understand cleaning materials and supplies, ability to understand lawn materials and equipment, ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions, and ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum acceptable job performance standards include maintaining a professional attitude, operating within OSHA standards and company safety policies, communicating effectively, meeting standards required by Mass Transportation Authority, maintaining an excellent driving record, wearing and maintaining authorized MTA uniform, being punctual, complying with all MTA rules and regulations, and contractual requirements.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, perform manual labor indoors and outdoors, tolerate dust, pollen, wind, rain, fumes, and odors, climb ladders and steps, use hands and fingers, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch, tolerate vibration and mechanical parts, and safely fit behind the steering wheel of the standard vehicle operated by MTA.
Work environment includes performing work in multiple facilities and locations, as well as indoors and outdoors. Wage rate is $23.96 per hour. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Apply online . MTA is an equal opportunity employer!
